Connor Mazzola

I live on the big island of Hawaii and am a waterman.
Most of my photos are shot while free-diving but I will scuba dive from time to time as well.
I am drawn to black and white photography for its timeless beauty and simple nature. I really enjoy shooting ultra-wide angle of the larger marine life, weather that be sharks, rays,
or whales.
My go to gear is a Nikon F5 with rehoused Nikonos R-UW lenses and a Hasselblad SWC/M.
All of my film is stand developed in Rodinal, rinsed in water no stop bath, and then fixed in Kodak powder fixer.
I am a lazy photographer like that and don't mind the grain. Love acutance and the high sharpness.

All of these were shot with a Nikon F5 in a Seacam
water housing. What makes my setup unique is that I am not using normal Nikon lenses.
I had Nikon R-UW lenses, meant for the Nikonos RS, converted and rehoused by Seacam to work on modern Nikon F bodies. They are the greatest lenses ever made for underwater photography as they're the only autofocus lenses with optics specifically corrected to work only underwater.
