"Night in Jiufen II"
The first time I used a film camera was on a trip I took to southern Taiwan when I was 11 years old.
I just wanted to take a few photos to show my family, and while those photos didn’t turn out very well, that memory has stuck with me to this very day as something really special.

I was born in Minnesota and moved to California when I was 12. My appreciation for California and the beauty of nature comes from being stuck in the snowy winters of Minnesota for the first 12 years of my life.

As a high school freshman, the darkroom was my initiation into photography — developing my own film, contact sheets and test strips, the red light and chemicals — it was all so very intoxicating.

Everyday moments have a special kind of magic and meaning. Photography is a way to celebrate that magic and to highlight the small details in life that are often overlooked.
It's about finding joy in the simple things and sharing that joy with others.

My interest in photography started right before college when my oldest sister let me borrow her DSLR.

Every time I pick up my camera and put on my wetsuit, fins, and mask, it feels freeing and exciting — like there’s a whole other world out there to explore. I love the simplicity. Just you and your camera in the big blue.

Picking up a tool to document life invites magic to happen right in front of you. If you train yourself to read these visual moments sculpted by light, you truly get to rediscover the whole world around you.

Most of my work is shot on medium format cameras with my Pentax 67ii or a Rolleiflex 6001. I do shoot the occasional 35mm through my Contax G2. I absolutely love the colors that Kodak Gold and Portra 800 produce.

I recently came third in the Up & Coming category of Underwater Photographer Of The Year, as the only photographer still shooting on film I was so happy to receive recognition from other underwater photographers based on the image regardless of the ‘outdated medium’ I still use.

I document and capture people from various cultures and environments to showcase our uniqueness and our similarities across borders.

Not only do I enjoy the challenge of shooting film in the mountains, I appreciate how present and attentive it keeps me within these incredible landscapes that are full of dynamic conditions.

These moments are typically slow and calm, a rarity in my home city of New York. With my camera I attempt to capture the essence of my subject while leaving plenty to the viewer's imagination.

The 35mm Canon Rebel X my father bought me years ago is still my favorite. There’s sentimental value attached to it, but it's also just a great camera that I’ll never be able to give up.

Our passion lies in lifestyle and fashion photography, and when it comes to our film of choice, Kodak Portra 400 has been in our fridge and bags ever since we started.

My career as a photographer went in a very different direction than I initially thought it would and surprisingly this is the first time in my life I am able to incorporate both of my passions into one project.

Kodak film is the cornerstone for every analog photographer, because its historic legacy is unmatched by any other film. Shooting on Kodak film means having excellent quality and distinctive grain structure, especially in their legendary Tri-X emulsion.

Kodak Portra 400 has been my film of choice for over a decade. It offers me the greatest flexibility and the most appealing grain and color, consistent across a huge variety of situations. Portra 400 has come to define my entire body of work throughout my career.

I have always enjoyed the outdoors, but found I had a difficult time describing and sharing the natural beauty of the places I visited. Then I realized that photography was the perfect medium to express that desire artistically.

Kodak has always been a big part of my photographic story. Reliable and rich colors ranging from vibrant Ektar and to the classic hues of Portra, to my favorite T Grain film, Tmax 400, these films have been workhorses that stand the test of time.

Mike’s focus on B&W landscape photography allows him to become immersed in nature and continues to be an inspiration.

I am Zhu Jiayun. I was born and live in Shanghai. In 2009, I had a chance to use a film camera and the image developed was so amazing that I insisted on using film thereafter.

I'm Matthew Santomarco, a film photographer based out of Colorado. I'm drawn to images of the American West and I find film is the best medium to capture the dynamic tones of the region with the timeless aesthetic of film.

I was given my first camera when I was 11. I’d roam around the woods near my house as an escape from a turbulent home life. It was there in the woods with my little camera that I came alive. I'd snap photographs of deer & fox passing by as I hid in piles of leaves.

Being immersed in the untamed wilderness grounds me, both physically and mentally. From this perspective, my work addresses humankind’s relationship with nature, recognizing our growing disconnect.

I photograph people - brides, grooms, families, friends, & anyone in love. My photography is devoted to the relationships between people & the small, meaningful moments that make up everyday life.

I taught myself photography when I started taking pictures of my grandparents, and I continue to create photographic works on the theme of family.

Living in a city on the edge of the prairie, I've seen rapid growth fill in where open space once was. It became a goal to capture history before it was overwritten by modernity, lost in pavement and strip malls.

We can never stop time at the most beautiful moments in life, but through photography we can freeze those moments forever.

My style is mainly influenced by my music, street fashion, horror art and poetry. Since film is hard to access in Zimbabwe, as a photographer, the way you make use of your film is very important.

I find that Portra 400 gives me a great basis for my colors while printing or scanning, as well as a versatility for pushing and pulling when I am shooting in unique lighting conditions.

4x5 film enables me to make large silver-gelatin prints in my darkroom. I want to make prints that transport people to the time and place that I experienced, and have them see the world through my eyes - or perhaps recall their own vivid memories of the past.

It took me a while to learn the ins and outs of film photography, but the main reason I fell in love with this art is because I would never take the same scene twice just to get the shot – once I pressed that shutter, it was over and I would move on.

I started photography because I admired the photojournalists who were active at a time when they believed they could change the world through photography.
